this was at bondi beach, when i was a sponger, i ditn have a surfboard

right, its a hot day, cept not many ppl were there coz it started 2 rain. kinda weird right?

anyways i was in the water with my uncle and my dad (the girls were on the beach) and i got caught in a rip and got pulled out the back, where i didnt have much experience at the time. Then i hear that siren. I didnt know wat the hell was goin on, so io started 2 panic. I started paddling, and a huge wave came up behind me and wiped me out. my board snapped off my arm rope. So, im swimming and swimming, then i hear people yelling out "SHARK SHARK!" and im like xxxxx and my heart was pounding and pounding. Eventually i got in2 shore

but it was scary xxxxx, i mean the shark coudve been near me

AARGGH!

yeah im fine

yeah i was young then and i hadnt been in the water with a shark b4 that.. get my drift? but i wud still get freaked if i was enar a shark. If i was a harmless one it wud be okay. ive divede with a leopard shark.. only around 1.5 - 2 metres, it was pretty cool.

Sharks are interesting creatures

Postby Odele » Sat Mar 05, 2005 4:34 am

I think sharks are very interesting they intrigue me!! I know this must be sounding weird because sharks in general is seen as monsters and most people fear them. But because I fear them they interest me! Does that make sense to anyone(except me)?

Most of the time they wont do anything, but if you do see one it's still a good idea to get out of the water.

Like I have this friend that was surfing Huntington beach cliffs and maybe 2 meters away he saw a Hammerhead, Even though he's been surfing for 40 years he still got out as fast as he could.

ya, at gorda once we saw like 8 or 9 big bulls in a frenzy not very far away, we just moved down the beach a ways and kept surfing. then one time like 15 miles down the beach at gorda me and my cousin were casting some surf rods and were in waist deep water and a 7 or 8 ft bull shark knocked him over. luckily it didnt bite him, but we through our lines and ran back to shore. Then another fishing trip to the same spot we hooked a 8 ft bull shark and had fought it for like 2 hours and our friend waded out to gaff it (at 3 in the morning) and a wave hit him and the shark was on top of him. that time the shark had a right to fight back.

FUN STUFF

Do ya think it was the same one, sharks like to stay around a certain area for couple weeks at a time.

No it wasnt the same one, the one we caught was pregnent and when we cut her open we got all the babies out cuz they were about to be born, and we walked them out and turned them lose and they swam away.

I live in guernsey (lil island between france and eng)so the only sharks we have to worry about are basking sharks (not exactly the scariest thing in the world unless you're scared of bruises). I'd be so scared if i was in the water with sharks.

i live in bodega bay ca and its like a huge breeding ground for great whites. but still ive only heard of two shark attacks since the time ive lived here which has only been two years but with all the people that go in the water every day here you have a better chance winning the lottery :!:
