Yes! finally the rain stops (what happened to sunny california) so me and my bro sieze the oppurtunity to catch SOMETHING. Surf report says nothings coming in but some small NW swells, but after you been stuck inside for 2+ weeks, anything is better than nothing, right? So we go check out the local break. Flat as Kansas (which did you know is indeed flatter than a pancake?) anyway, we go out, see what we can catch. Little ripples, maybe even a 2 ft? we ended up pushing ourselves into the waves, falling off, flopping around in the ankle high water. Laughed alot though, especially when i performed my special jump/fall-off-the-nose-of-your-board-to-a faceplant/bellyflop trick. Which i guess goes to that it doesn't matter if it's 2 or 2o ft, it's all about gettin' out there, gettin' salt water up your sinuses and sand in your skivvies and having fun SURFING!!!!

I deal with all those 2 footers every week. Sometimes 2 feet is the maximum hehe. Sometimes theres no break water. Other times its 6-8, so it depends. Im getting good at catching the small ones.
I was surfing in very small (1-2 ft face) and very shallow reef. Dont ask me why. And I fell off. Dont ask me how. And I landed on my feet standing but all my force went to me foot and I get stabbed mean by a sharp coral peak. I lost a lot of skin and I didnt think much of it. Then I headed in and sand and stuff got it. I dug the sand out when I got home and then overnight it got infected and I couldn't even walk properly. I missed a day of school and I went to the doctor and have to take pills. The doctor said that plastic surgery was one option if it didn't get better. Lucky for me it did but my foot hasnt touched water in 5 days already. Anyway have fun surfing small waves. Surfing is surfing as long as you have fun.
Aloha.

We've been lucky up here in Wa, I think we're getting your waves and you're getting our rain! How is California doing with all that precipitation?

Hi this topic was actualy posted by me, i just forgot 2 sign in!! actually, duhkine, the same thing happened to me, only I steppend off my board and onto a really sharp rock that managed to stay under the water. How did it do that? Anyway, now I have a lovely inch-long gash on the ball of my foot, and I think it reopens everytime I step on it. No infection yet, though. *knock on wood*. California's holding up alright down here, except that some peoples houses that were built on the cliffs are about to fall off b/c the cliffs are eroding. And the water is disgusting, little pieces of wood floating around (watch your feet!). I guess some guy's bamboo garden up the coast musta been wrecked and sucked out to sea, b/c the beaches are covered with it. People were building stick tents and teepees last I saw.

Hey DUHKINE:
How do you avoid getting An Infection from the reef? You cant possibly get one every time you hit the reef? DO you have to just clean it quick ? How soon after it gets cut? ANd how do you treat it?
