Surfing Waves

Like bringing a longboard to a shortboard break....



The nearest break to my holiday home will be at this beach. But I can't see any longboards in the video and the waves doesn't look like it is suitable for a longboard either....

There's another beach closeby but full of seals and I'm not a fan of great whites...

There was a kneeboarder in the mix as well....I think you'll be fine plus I believe that this is the season of summer mushy waves and they won't be as punchy as the video.....and if you aren't all the way pitted in the pocket that wave is fine for cruising.........I think you'll be fine.

Just don't be a wave hog and don't let your board fly at people and you will be fine. Remember, just because you can pick every wave up before the short boarders doesn't mean you should. In fact you should probably let lots of waves go by since you will be a guest.

Just a friendly tip from someone that has to deal with longboarders and poor etiquette every day.

Yeah the kneeboarders on the video is such a nightmare.. I can't that they didn't get a good smacking after that.

As Big H says, it will be summer and the waves definitely won't be like that or else I'm going to end up with a broken board.

if there's no other longboarders out, then don't go. If you scan the line up and everyone surfs better than you, then don't go out. Even if you're invited out by the locals, there's no soft shoulder to take off on.

Most important question BaNZ can you handle break like that? Be realistic with your self assessment!
Then the consideration of short boards and the othe surfers ability!
If you can't match that surf elsewhere

I can't, but that video was in Winter and I'm going in summer so I bet the waves will be mushy and hopefully suitable for my standards of surfing. Don't worry if it does end up like in the video, I won't even be able to get pass the white wash.

At your home break, the locals will be more lenient if you're not that good a surfer yet. But traveling and going to a spot that no one knows you, you're asking for trouble. And on top of that bringing a longboard ?, multiply that. Law of the wild is to prey on the weakest one. Don't be that one. Find a break with surfers that are about the same level as you.

You are better off surfing La Jolla shores, easier access and way more longboard friendly. Find a video of that spot
