Check this out -
surfallday.co.nz/products/Wetsuits/Lite%20Series/surfalldayvest.html
Do you think that this a piece of surfing equipment you could ever see yourself using? Does this mean that having a drink waiting on the beach is a thing of the past?
(Seventh wave do make good wetsuits - I nearly got one when I was over there)

i gotta admit, i can't see myself wearing one. it says its bouyant, would that mean it would be even more difficult to duck dive? i think it's better to get out of the water to get a drink, that way, you can have a rest so you don't exhaust yourself.

2 litres of water = extra 2 kgs
pro surfers are worried about how much water there wetsuits soak up let alone carrying an extra weight (i know thats not whos it for but thought id mention)
Surely the extra weight is gonna make you more knackered when popping and is gonna affect your balance. Im not convinced

Funny, after surfing at tynemouth a few times I get lank dehydrated. That's like the saltiest water I've ever been in. Always thought it would be handy to have a supply of H2O with you to re-hydrate yourself while you're out there. Still not convinced I'd actually take that thing in with me though. It's bad enough having to wear a wetsuit in the water, nevermind adding something on top of that.
So what do you guys do about having a drink? Do any of you guys actually leave a bottle of water on the beach to go back to while you surf? I just think if I stay out there for more than a few hours I really need a drink of water and would be an idea to dump a bottle on the beach.

dont usually leave a bottle on the beach cause who knows what would happen to it. I know i can get real thirsty during summer though and if there was a litre of Powerade on my back that actually has isotonics in it so is really good for rehydrating. Or hot coffee in winter would help keep ya warm....
As for the weight 2litres seems like a lot of liquid. I think id be more likely to fill to 1 litre. I weigh 75kg so thats 1/75th my weight so dont think would be a major and the pack looks comfortable. think the possibility of carrying keys/sunblock/bacon sandwiches would be pretty useful and hardly any weight. dont know if its waterproof though...?
think the bouyancy thing is an option once the bladder is empty you can inflate it - would be useful for hold downs on bigger waves - like a version of the bouyancy vests they wear at teahupou. good point about the duckdiving though not sure how this would work - has anyone tried one yet?
