Hawaii boy and University of Oregon football star has declined to play for the Titans because they want him to sign papers saying he won't surf. I guess he is banking on other teams offering him free agent deals eventually or maybe he just wants to surf. I don't know about signing paperwork promissing not to surf....maybe he just figures there is no way he can keep that promise.

Yes and I'd even give up surfing for half of that amount.
Ha, though the money would need to come from something more intellectual than American football!

Not me. Money can't make you happy but surfing can.

Well, he won the Heisman Trophy so its not like he is going to struggle to find someone to sign him.

And even if he does give up surfing, he probably will only play for ten years or less and then can retire and surf on his bank account forever.

Lots of sportsmen have similar clauses - I know soccer players in Europe are often banned from skiing, for example.

I went downill mountain biking with a bunch of guys once and one of them brought a mutual friend who was a very novice biker. I leant him my spare full suspension bike and away we went.

Half way through one of the trails we came across some jumps which we all hit (except for the newbie). He succumbed to peer pressure from his mate and decided to also hit the jump which was a terrible idea.
He had no way near enough speed and the front of the bike basically went straight down as soon as he left the ramp.. he went over the bars and got a few pretty decent cuts and bruises.

When he got up he said 'none of you can tell anyone that this happened from biking'. Apparently he was a commenwealth badminton rep and his sponsor contract said the same thing about not allowing him to participate in any dangerous sports like biking etc.

Long story short, yes I would give up surfing for $20M. might even consider it for $20k! haha.

Would you honestly turn down a cheque for $20M to not surf again?

The latest rumors are Mariota doesn't surf and this is just a sign of a slow news day
