WTF.
For very good reason, surfers are more like to swallow more bacterially contaminated water than other folk. The research on antibiotic resistant super bugs in the gut and eventually in the bowel is looking into this ( no not literally just swabs).

Older surfers may also consider that stool sample can give an early indication of bowel cancer!
