Went out the other day to a reef break about 250-300m offshore...not too crowded and a selection of peaks to choose from...I set up on a wave that had a few others on it and went at it...people we're drifting back and forth among the peaks and I was still trying to sort the wave and find a good position a half hour in when I noticed that there was one person who kept showing up nearby while all the other faces would change...that's fine...not the first time I'd been followed by someone who fugues I had the place wired better than they did. After a few more min they took up position after missing a wave directly under the breaking wave and in the path of anyone go caught the wave...they looked tired out and like they were taking a break, albeit in the wrong place....the a big set rolled through, I took one after seeing the person get cleaned out and pushed to the beach by the whitewater. I paddle back out, take a breather then spin the board to get my land references....there they are again....then I realize they are attempting to ride the whitewater and are intentionally holding that spot...so I paddle down to one side so that they are underneath but inside and we shouldn't meet...they shadow me paddling to the same side as I did only 25m inside and back into my path again....I paddle back to where I started, saw the building wave and took it...to my surprise just as I pop up there they are paddling back into my path...then they bail and the board shoots out into my path.....aargh! I jump off, grab my board, avoid a collision and decide not to confront the clueless but to paddle in, change boards and go down the beach. I get out, have some water, change boards and head to a fatter section for some long boarding about 200m down the beach from where I had been....I get out back all alone for 100m all around, about 200m from the beach for this section, catch a few and then a bigger set rolls in...I take one, pop up and then......
