In Taiwan they rent out board space for around $100 per year.

Will probably be in San Diego soon. Since I probably won't have a car so I'll want to rent a spot for my board. If they do allow it, what sort of price would they be charging?

Found a Torq 7"6 on craiglist for $250 which seems alright. I told the seller that I'll need to see the board before I decide.

Sorry for asking, but it seems you're overseas ( maybe in Taiwan ). If so, are you planning to check-in the surfboard on the airplane ? Have you checked the airlines baggage rules. Some might not permit certain size boards. My board from Hawaii to Japan was $200 one way. Plus you sign a waiver form that if they run it over with a forklift, it's not their fault ( little bit exaggeration ). Also since you don't want to rent a car, how you going to even get it to a surfshop that rents lockers ? Put it in a taxi ?

Just rent a board at a surfshop. Cheaper, less hassles, less stress. What happens if they do damage the board on the airlines ? You got to pay for the repair and rent a board, while you're waiting. In Hawaii its $25 a day $50 for 3 $100 for a week. I even had a guy rent for a month ( which you should actually buy a 2nd hand board , then dump it for cheap after the months over ).

Yes I'm aware that the fees for carrying a surfboard is extortion. Hence I'm going to buy a board there and rent a rack space. I'll be there between 1-3 months so renting one would cost more than a brand new board. I'll just put it in the shop for sale after I leave.

What I'm planning to do is either buy a brand new board at the shop or find a seller that is local and would deliver to the shop there. I think I have found the latter. There's a bus that goes to the beach and it will take 20 mins from my accommodation.

Are you looking for a place to store it while you are there, or are you looking for a more permanent storing solution for when you come back to the US in the future???

If it is the latter, then...In the past I have bought boards on craigslist, then sold or consigned them before I leave. I have looked into renting a cheap storage unit but you are looking at around $400 -$500 for the year. More economical to just sell the board after you have used it for 3 months. Inifinty Surf SHop in Dana Point is where I consigned my last board. Great local shop and good people. If you get shop credit then they give you 80% of what they sell it for. If you take cash, then you receive 60%. In fact I have a credit there right now form the last board I consigned there.

If you just need a place to store it while you are here, then perhaps a kind soul on here or on longboard.net will take pity on your soul
