[Idea] Real surf towing like ski lift

Hello!

I'm quite a beginner in surfing, I got started in South West of France (Biarritz) in last September.

I just wonder if any of you already thought about any system that would allow us to get past oncoming waves effortless?

Ski has lifts, surf has nothing similar so far. What do you think about that?

In my opinion, I would prefer to spend more time on waves than paddling out most of the time.

Am I the only one to have thought of that?

Looking forward to having your answers!

Jeremy

Nope, everyone has thought of that at one time or another. And, sure, we'd all like a lift back to the line-up every now and then.

But if you can't get out back, you shouldn't be out back.

Huge infrastructure smash able by a decent storm, makes a commercial proposition of getting the incapable into situations they wont be able to handle.
Enough people enter the surf zone already thinking it is a doddle!
Make wave pools and send them there :!:

I would prefer they make it more difficult for people to paddle out. That way more waves for me. But I am getting older so ask me again what I think after I am 64......(3 years from now)

Ask the old timers what is one of the worst thing to happen to surfing. Some or most would say the surfboard LEASH ( power cord, etc. ) Before if you fell off your board you had to swim all the way in to retrieve it. After so many times the poor paddlers would give up the sport. ( Or the poor paddlers would get technique up to where they didn't fall ). That would keep the breaks uncrowded. Now every kook can paddle out and just jump off their boards at any point on the wave.

Before it was survival of the fittest. Separate the men from the boys. I guess now days, kids just think when they're getting in trouble, they can just "pause" the game and press Reset.

Oh, I love it when people tell me they don't need a surf lesson " cause they Snowboard ". When is the last time they clawed up the hill with their hands ? You don't have to catch the mountain, but you do need to catch the wave.

That is so true. Back when I learned if you couldn't handle the conditions you weren't out there. With no leash you take off and wipe out and you take a trip to the shore to get your board and then have to paddle back out. Even if you are fit this takes some time and allows others to catch waves uncluttered by kooks for a while. If you were fit then sooner or later you will learn and if you aren't fit you get fit or you won't learn. I think these days with board leashes it allows people who aren't fit enough to be out in the lineup. If you add a tow rope then even more. If they had a place like that they would need to have everyone sign a release waiver before they used it because it is certain to result in drowning.

Be careful what you wish for, because it's now a reality.

Search " Kai Lenny Jetsurf "

Hahahaha yeah that is great even better than Garrett McNamara's wavejet. The funny thing is Kai Lenny is one of the most fit surfers around and he excels in several different formats like long distance paddling, SUP, kite, Windsurfing and he does big waves on all of those boards and with this I am sure there are others I am not aware of.

I might seem like a dinosaur with this opinion but if these enter a normal crowded surf zone the whole thing would get very ugly very quickly.
I see Kai Lenny rides the left away from the other surfers.
So he is aware of the line up.

Imagine Joe Blow self entitled "I've got money" among the crowd.
Carnage and haters follow . Personal water craft laws would apply in Australia, but even now not all comply.

I have seen this before and apparently it is not so great for riding waves but it sure would make catching waves a piece of cake. Also duck diving is out of the question. Kai lenny is riding a big wave so not much turning is needed and he is so skilled at multiple forms of surfing. I imagine like the SUP this will become more popular once they get the board design better. It could be a saving grace for old surfers who have wrecked their shoulders over the years. I would get one just to put the SUP guys in their place :) (not really)
