I learned how to surf during the summer in Bali on a foamie, I surfed a 7'4 nsp in santa cruz, and before that my mom bought me a cbc 5'10 fish foam but i feel like it was too small+ i'd slip off, today on craigslist I managed to buy a 6'4 something carrol board for 60$, do you think i'll be fine with it? I'm 5'10/11 and 170 pounds. In Florida. Plus why is the cbc so slippery?

"I managed to buy a 6'4 something carrol board for 60$, do you think i'll be fine with it?"

Short answer is NO. but for the sake of conversation .......
6'4" Carrol for $60 ? if it's been broke in half - No If it's been stolen - very much NO
Somewhat beginner ? newbie almost at beginner stage - No. Beginner that can bottom turn and ride along the waves face and starting to attempt turn downs - Maybe
Florida waves ? more pitchy - maybe more mushy soft - No

"Plus why is the cbc so slippery?"
ahhh ..... you need to wax surfboards ( even if they're made of foam ). But you don't need to wax in circles Karate Kid style. Just make cat claw scratches hash marks with the corner edge of the wax bar. Don't need much. just couple lines.

worldexplorer,
now that you've purchased before posing question, there is only one best way to answer your question. That is to go try it. I hope you and this new board get along well. If you do not, then the problem may rest with you. This assumption is based on knowing you have different board types and lengths available to you. If you do not get along with your new board, then find a more experienced surfer to go out with you. Their involvement is to identify what you are inadvertently doing incorrectly. We all benefit from this "coaching," especially in the beginning.

The board is sick, I used it yesterday, and today and it shreds. I already started turning too.
