Wetsuit neck flush. Back zip vs Front

Postby SpokeyDokey » Thu Nov 20, 2014 2:06 pm

Hi

I am tired of water flushing through the neck of my suit and would like to know if anyone thinks front zips are better than back zips at keeping the water out as the last front zip suit I had flushed like a public toilet.

Thanks

S.

Got both type. Front one is slightly better. But maybe because it is double the price.

Don't quote me on this but my local surf shop said the entry levels mostly have zips at the back. If you have a premium wetsuit then they normally have zip in the front. Also you can tell by checking if they got glued + stitched.

Front-zips will probably have a bit less flush through, and quality is important... but both of these pale into insignificance compared to fit. If it's not snug around your neck, it'll flush, if it's well fitting, it won't.
You'll probably find me surfing, but if not, I'll probably be in the photography studio

just to clarify, you mean wetsuits that have the zipper on the chest. Not on the front going down vertically. There are these retro classic suits like the old Beaver Tail style with zippers on the front. Those flush. But yes, chest zips are much better. Plus my shoulders don't hurt as much with them after a long surf.

Hey
Give this a go. I was suffering the same problem with my new front zip that seems to have stretched out and a friend lent me his wetsuit scarf he had bought. It was incredible and I didn't want to give it back. It really made me feel about a hundred times warmer and it completely stopped the dreaded flush through the neck. The company seems pretty sound too. Hopefully mine will arrive on Monday. `check them out on http://www.wetsuitseal.com
