UV resistant surfboard wrap

Postby benjl » Tue Oct 14, 2014 1:39 am

Hey guys

I was just out with a work supplier at their showroom and whilst giving me a run down of their products, they mentioned about having some 'bomb / shatterproof' UV resistant tint wrap that they put on their front doors.

It got me thinking.. Could they develop this in to something that could be used on surfboards to A). Stop UV discolouration and heat going in to the board and B). give an additional micro layer that would stop scratches etc on the deck or bottom of the board?
I imagine it would be quite cheap.

I brought it up with them as a possibly suggestion to look in to as something that could be laid out on to the deck of a board once brought.

Thoughts?

Interesting idea. Probably it wouldn't much matter to most since they will be breaking their boards from other forces than the sun. Imagine a 10 year old board that is only dented and not faded looking. They probably could make boards with UV resistant resin. I am pretty sure they have that already.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.
