Surfing history

Postby danmewett » Sun Aug 31, 2014 4:09 pm

Browsing the Internet Archive Book images (now on flickr) I found this line drawing from a book published in 1871. It depicts surfing in the Sandwich Islands, along with some amusing descriptions of the Sandwich Island people. I wonder if there are any older depictions of surfing?

It's a cool drawing.

Matt Warshaw has a book called The History of Surfing and in page 28 it is a picture of a drawing from 1831.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.
