Things i learnt this weekend.....

Postby Dead_One » Wed Jun 25, 2014 8:33 am

After a fun trip to the south west this weekend and a 1100 mile round trip, i learnt the following...
1) Its next to impossible to nose ride a swelly foam board in 1 ft surf...... it doesn't end well :D :D
2) There's never any waves when you find a perfect new board and want a test ride before buying :( :(
3) For some reason nice sunny weather and surf-able waves don't seem to happen at the same time in Cornwall :( :( :(
4) Even when you are the only person surfing the 1ft surf, and the surfing area and swimming area are clearly marked, and separate, the couple of swimmers who decide to come in are still ignorant enough to try to swim in the surfing area, and will always get in the way when a semi decent wave comes through :( :( :(
5) Spending all day on the beach and all night drinking does have an effect on your balance....
6) Despite all of this, surfing a bad 1ft wave is way better than sitting behind a desk.......

Count down to the next surf is starting again... 10 days to go :D :D :D :D :D

So when the swimmers come into the surfing area is it free game? Can you just run them over if you wish? Just kidding. I would be SUP in those conditions, then the swimmers really need to be careful :D
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

I do sometimes want to go over to the swimmers and say 'you realise I'm surfing a large hard object with sharp fins at high speed and you are exactly in the spot the board will land if I fall off? Which means you will get hurt and I wont'

Annoys me no end, especially older swimmers who swim out to just past the break and then float around so they are always there in the wrong place and not paying any attention to you.

Summer blue skies = high pressure system = no waves.

Wait 'til autumn, then you get
Autumn blue skies + hurricane in the carribean = nice weather, warm (relatively speaking) water plus waves 8)
You'll probably find me surfing, but if not, I'll probably be in the photography studio
