Hi I am new here. I wanted to get some info on surfing the Torbay area. I am moving to Brixham in September this year and looking forward to living near the ocean. I have been surfing for 10 years but living near London. I am currently in Oz surfing dream waves on the Gold Coast.

I wanted to get some genuine info on surfing in the area. I have been reading about Paignton...I know it's no burleigh heads and am ready for its sloppy waves but how consistent is it? Can you surf St Marys beach in Brixham.

I anticipate going down to Bantham in the summer but wanted to surf more in my own doorstep in the winter when is cold. Any other spots that are worth a go not far from Brixham? I'm looking forward to joining the hardy local surf community and making some friends that are like minded and don't mind getting wet in the 1ft fun days to the 4ft and clean days!

Please post if you have genuine positive advice/info. None of the 'go to the north coast of Cornwall if you want proper waves'

Wembury is just down the road and is pretty good. It faces southwest so get's better exposure than a lot of spots on the south coast. It's certainly no Snapper, but a perfectly surfable wave :D

Wembury is one of the only places that I've ever surfer while it snowed... never again!

I have read about Wembury and Bantham they seem great.

So the local spots...what's the most consistent spot in torbay? Paignton? And also the most quality wave in torbay?
