Hey! I just moved to Santa Cruz and I went by the boardwalk yesterday and I saw all the surfers and it looks so fun and amazing. I really want to try it out. Idk how to explain it but it looked so amazing and awesome and perfect and I feel like I am missing out on a amazing thing. How do I start? What do I do? This girl in my class said that I am 16 and it's too late but yeah is it too late for me to start surfing? I hope it's not. I know how to swim perfectly so can I? Where so I start like what is the whole concept? Where should I go to get more information? Can you guys please help me out (:

Don't be silly - of course its not too late to start, its almost never too late to start. Plenty of people start in their 20's, 30's or even... totally, like, unbelievable! OMG! Old people! Like, surfing!... in their 40's+.

Get yourself down to the beach, book a lesson or two, hire a big foam board, and give it a go. Worry about the rest later - for now, just get in the water and try it out.

Make sure you can swim well. Then learn to swim in the ocean with currents and waves. Then go surfing or make sure you take lessons first so that someone can help you out if you get in trouble. I was 18 when I learned and then quit for a while when I was like 35 and started again when I was 56. You are not too old, just make sure you stay safe while you do it.
