Need advice for cutbacks

Hi I'm riding a 7'4 funboard and I'm currently trying to learn cutbacks. I have been surfing for about six months and going about 1 time a week. I'm trying to learn cutbacks but whenever I try to cutback I just bury my rail and fall. I'm not sure if I need better waves or need to do something else because lately I have only been able to go on small weak 1-2 foot surf. Any advice would be appreciated.

It's more difficult to turn a larger board on a smaller wave but here is a video about cutting back. You need to keep your legs bent and keep the rotation going. I surf a 8 foot fun gun and when I try to cut back on smaller waves, I push the tail of the board with my rear foot to rotate the board around quickly. I still need to work on my cutback though..

I don't know if you know it but a source of advice is in the main section of this forum at the top of the page under the headline "Learn to Surf" https://surfing-waves.com/how-to-cutback.htm

MysurfTV online has stuff on doing cutbacks too at http://www.mysurf.tv/categories/surf-ready/68-mick-andy-episode-1

It's very important to get your bottom turn well down before this because it sets it up.
