After years of surfing in thick wetsuits (UK), then thin spring suits (Sydney), I'm now surfing in just boardies (Gold Coast)... and, good grief, does it make my nipples rub!

Eventually that won't be a problem most likely ....they will get tougher. Wear a shirt or rash guard if it's too painful till then.

If you didnt have the 4 nipple piercings, it probably wouldnt hurt so much.

Nipple tassels, like old time strippers, would at least make you well known on the beach.

And actresses use some kind of tape when they wear plunging dresses on the red carpet, to keep things from showing. You could try some of that.

If all else fails, surely you are man enough to just duck tape them up.

Sometimes way back when I was starting to surf for 5 or 6 hours straight on the weekends and at least a couple hours every single day my nipples would get scabs but yeah they got more manly :) Duck tape fixes everything

Rubbing alcohol will toughen up the skin (but might sting a bit when applied to damaged skin). Just rub a bit on once or twice a day til no longer required.

Being serious, something like this is good

http://www.surfstitch.com/product/rip-c ... hirt-white

because its not made of neoprene or whatever rash vests are made of, and its loose rather than tight, it doesnt really keep you warm but it keeps the sun off the back and keeps the wax from rubbing on the front.

I am not sure what rash vests you are thinking of but those look like what I would call a rash guard. They are sold as sun protection but work to keep your nipples from getting rubbed. A regular t-shirt works too although cotton t-shirts tend to stretch way too much when wet and are a little sloppy but everyone usually has one so no need to buy stuff. I actually have 2 similar shirts, a long sleeve and a short sleeve version but only wear them when I SUP (my nipples are not getting worn away)

My normal rashie didn't make a lot of difference (a little bit, but not 100%), and my thicker rashie was waaaay too warm.

Also, I have a really stupid 'farmer's suntan' from surfing in a springsuit at the moment which Im trying to even up a little bit

My nipples are going to just have to toughen up. It's not as if I actually use them for anything (including tassles)...
