Board Damage..

Postby peazz » Sat Jan 04, 2014 9:05 am

Hey guys,

So I was out yesterday in bondi's thumping ground swell and took a couple on the head not being able to get out of the way...anyhow, upon inspecting my board today i noticed a big spider fracture, If i run my nail over it I can clearly feel the cracks..

Further towards the nose after going out for a surf ive noticed a top layer of resin has come away from the board, its still rough underneath so I imagine its just a top later but again there is fracture lines coming away from that and some further deep cracks going up the rail..does not look very strong

They are looking pretty hairy, Should I get them sanded off and repaired so they dont worsen and potentially write off a 7 week old $800AUD surf board?

Tried to get some pictures but lighting is not showing them up!

heres the best pics I could get..

Image
Spider fracture, seems like the top coat, how bad is it really?, If i run my finger nail over it I can feel the fractures

Image
This one is deeper, sharper edges with some of the top coat already come away..still rough underneath so I imagine its not deep.

Just sand it down, and go over it with resin or glass if you want. It shouldn't take that much skill since it's on the top deck.

The nice guys at Dripping wet, Bondi fixed up the cracks for me for free, I bought some UVREZ and they patched it up with their own materials free of charge..

One of the rail he put some fibreglass mesh over it with some resin to give it some extra strength, its good as new now..

If anyone ever needs anything surf wise while in Bondi, I cant recommend these guys enough all they have done is help me every time I been here, giving advise, touching up my board and giving me some nice tips!
