My lady gave me a deeper shade of blue for Xmas.

My son and me were blown away with the whole movie

Does anyone out there have any advice on where to start with riding a wooden fin less board

I have seen one guy riding one locally but he was mostly doing spins

I am more interested on more main stream rather than tricks

I saw Kelly slater riding a table on a wave but I am not going to buy one :) If you were in Hawaii then there would be no problems since a finless wooden board has been ridden here since way back when. The ones that are more popular are called alaia. You can probably google that.

55 I hope the movie hasn't evoked a midlife crisis.
The finless revolution ( lots of them) a whole paradigm of surfing that Hawaiians have been doing for years.
Most like me who try understand why fins were invented. But if you can score a good ride the sensation of almost drag free surfing is amazing.
They teach you to really be able to set a rail.
Try this Tom Wegener is the maker of a whole range of boards and also supplies the material to make them.

Thanks Jaffa

I think I live in a permanent state of mid life crisis :) lol

Just watching finless on the movie made my son and me think about how much a persons surfing could develop with finless

I imagine it would take a fair bit of practice and I think it would be difficult in crowded sydney conditions

I love watching Hawaiian surfers and surfing

They seem at one with the ocean be it on big or small waves ....

It's all about rail turns and I guess most surfers don't think about how much the rail holds the turn but having started out with a finless body board I know all about rail turns. Of course without a fin the rail design becomes much more critical.

There's a surfer just down the road from you at maroubra who rides one with no problem! :D
I'm astonished that he can do it on the steep dumpy waves at the 'bra. It looks a lot of fun, but awesomely difficult! :D

I had my shaper make me a finless fiberglass board, I was able to ride it in many conditions. If you don't want to just spin it then go with a fiberglass option, I rode it a lot for one year than got bored with it LOL
