Dave Sweet's original 1952 bodyboard

Postby piscola90 » Sun Nov 17, 2013 12:59 pm

Hi,

I've recently acquired what appears to be the first commercial bodyboard. It was made in 1952 by Dave Sweet (while he would have been developing the first foam surfboards). He made, and sold this odd looking board around 20 years before body boards hit the shops.

I have very few surfing connections, and and it doesnt seem right that this bit of surf history will sit in my home, hidden from the world of surfing - it should be shared, but I'm not sure the best way to do that at the moment

Any thoughts, sites, magazines or contacts would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Stu

A posted picture of the board would help.
Try this site, http://surfboardcollectors.com/davesweet.htm or Swaylocks http://www.swaylocks.com/ :D
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷
