I finally got away from Hong Kongs inconsistent swell and over to Australia! Thought i would check in and say hi!

Bondi is one seriously beautiful place.
Was looking at 5 - 8 ft with the occasional 9ft bomb that come through, While i should not of paddled out I still did. All i can say is wow, being lifted up basically 2 floors of a house is pretty crazy.
As you all know, I was one of the learners that went short to start learning ( 6"3 7s superfish 2 ), I didnt exactly have a choice with having to commute an hour to my local break and a limit of 6"3 on trains and buses.
I have just picked up a 5"9 Js evolution with the round tail / 5 fin setup, I was expecting it to be near impossible to ride, but it paddled better then my 7s by miles (at least out to the break)
Do you guys have any tips for going short? I have noticed it takes a hell of alot to get the board into a wave and white water does not just take me anymore.
