9'2 Glenn DArcy longboard - tips please

Hey guys, I bought the above board second hand yesterday, i think it would be pretty much a performance board. I can't wait to give out a try. I was hoping that yous could give me a few tips.
At the min i am surfing a circle one 7'10 mini mal.

Expect to get into more waves and earlier, but you will have to learn to walk the plank for some of your turns.

Also, be careful in shallow surf, the minimall usually doesn't nose out in small surf, the longboard could.

Cheers bud, Thats what im really trying to achieve, get up and riding much earlier.

Poss stupid question but what do you mean by nosing out.

I always use that first tip lol

Remember that surfing is basically weighting and unweighting (ie putting weight back or forward or on your toes or your heels) but, with a long board, you also need to move that weight ie actually move your feet back (usually move the back foot toward the rear of the board, over the fins) in order to turn. As IB Surfer said.

Otherwise you shouldnt notice too much difference from the other board. Earlier catching and you will glide over smaller sections better. Probably can surf smaller waves. Easier paddling. Slightly harder turning. I remember your previous concerns about the mini mal, so a 9ft2 sounds like exactly what you want.

Thanks dtc yeah i bit the bullet and went all out for a proper lb. Looks beautiful too, very sleek with thin rails and a triple stringer. Itl take a while to get my positioning sussed out but i learned to surf on a big heavy 8'6 nsp so hopefully that wont be too different.
