Anyone fancy Central America surfing, July/Aug 04?

Postby Duncs » Tue Mar 02, 2004 5:46 pm

Hey guys,

Finally finishing off my 4 month travel plans for the end of my gap year!!!

Im dedicating the first 2 months to backpacking south america with friends. The second two im pretty sure im gonna spend in central america, moving gradually from guatemala down to panama.

Anyway, im basically going to have to do the second half of my trip [July/Aug] on my own :( . SO i was just wondering whether there was any one else out there who is on a gap year, or fancies a bit of a surf holiday. Mind you i will be doing it on the cheap,...taking buses around, no formal plan, just staying at each surf destination as long as i feel like it!!!

Also bear in mind im pretty much a beginner, so i might find a surf school at the start just to get me up to scratch for all the scary central american waves!! A competent surf buddy might help my progress loads!!!

Anyway its just an idea, mu plans aren't set in stone, so im willing to bend em if you have already planned a trip,....and fancy a surf buddy yourself!!!

Cheers guys,

Duncs,

Too bad you're not coming up towards the States, with all the california surf out there. If you do make your way to the states let me know and I'll see what I can do. I am also pretty much a beginner, did surfing for a while and then moved to dallas and stopped. Anyway let me know. I have several friends in Cali and maybe if you need it on the cheap I can arrange something.
email me any time, I have it on my profile.

Hey vitopilot!

I really appreciate the offer dude, i might hold you to it as well! I was planning on heading through california before, but my travel buddy pulled out on me, so thats why i figured head straight to central america.

However it is worth considering! I will email you sometime as well, when i have a bit more time.

This is where the advantages of a forum really show, making surfing buddies! I want to have a trip i can post about on the forum :)

No problem man. Let me know what you decide and I'll also see if I can help you out with my airline discount for hotels if you need them. Take care.

Hotels ey!!

I am pretty sure if i do it im gonna have to go through hostels, im not sure if i can afford hotels!!!

I was thinking about California. I think it sounds like a good idea. Y''know, all the stuff about rips, where to take-off, getting in line for the surf that i have heard about, y'know i have no idea abou it allt!! Since im a beginner i was thinking it would be a good idea to surf school it, or spend some time with some mates surfing some breaks they knew well for a month, just so i have more confidence before i head down to central america.

What do you think of that idea?

Can anyone recommend a place to do that>
