had an encounter with a shark while surfing yesterday.
Posted: Wed Oct 02, 2013 1:31 amyeah, so i fortunately escaped a shark encounter yesterday while surfing one of my local breaks here in central florida. don't even really have a scratch to show for it either, just a sore leg, so i feel extremely fortunate to say the least 
don't remember much because it happened so fast, but i had just caught a wave and was paddling back out and next thing i know, the back of my board flys up in the air about a foot or two and i feel a sharp sudden pain in my left leg. it was a pretty forceful blow so i knew right away it was probably a shark, luckily i wasn't far off from shore so i was able to get in quickly. a fisherman on the beach saw some of the attack and said i was lucky to come away without a scratch. he couldn't tell for sure but he said it was most likely a bull shark, which our common in this area.
