Hi, guys, I am new here. I work as an onscreen translator (to Portuguese) and I am working on a documentary about surf. You will know which one, but I just don’t want to mention the title and break the confidentiality. But I need some help.
To understand a foreign name is one of the biggest challenges of a translator, and I am having some difficulties with a few passages of the film, since it is all about names and history. I made a couple cutouts for you guys to watch and perhaps tell the names. I would be eternally grateful. I wrote to the director, but my deadline is tight and I never received a feedback in such inquiries.
So, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1rHESXa ... e=youtu.be
The first cutout is from the interview with Bob Barbour, talking about the cover of the Surfing Magazine of 1975 with Kevin Reed. And he says “of Kevin riding a black *** at ***”. I can’t pick the brand of the board and the place.
The other is from the interview with Rory Russell, and he is looking at some photos and saying “and this is from the backyard of ***, man”. I know that there is a beach called “Backyards” in Hawaii, but I think that he is talking about someone’s backyard that faces the beach. It is a photo of some people together at the beach (Sorry about the video format, I am not used to YouTube).
I might have a couple other doubts until the end of the film, and I would like to ask if I can post it here too.
Well, I appreciate any help.
Best regards folks.
