Big Bay Swim in aid of RNLI Bundoran

Postby Donegal Surfer » Sat Sep 14, 2013 7:26 pm

We are a small group of hardy swimmers/surfers from in and around Bundoran who have just today completed the 12-14 km stretch of treacherous sea from St Johns Point to Mullaghmore Harbour in Donegal Bay to raise money for Bundoran RNLI!

Eamon, Eamon and Franck set out to swim the entire distance, Phil/Sean as a 2-man skins relay and Emma/Tambet as a 2 man relay.

The green light to go was for Friday the 13th but we were literally stalled at the start with engine problems, so after a lovely surf to make up for it, we set out on a sunnier Saturday in a rolling swell, light cross winds and at one point a very challenging mesh of jellyfish for 10 mins or so (skins swimmers, fair play lads!) and made it finally into Mullaghmore pier with RNLI and TurfnSurf welcome (big thanks to both for logistics and safety)

We have a Facebook Page and we'd love you to come and find out about us, to 'like', share and of course you are VERY welcome to chuck a couple of quid into the lifeboat box!

We would really appreciate any donation no matter how big or small to
