They scared the crap out of me on Sunday morning. I was out there and first one just popped up right in front of me...noisy...totally caught me off guard. Then two of them were thrashing around behind me...but the kind of thrashing you usually see sharks doing. haha

I love when they are out. Makes surfing that much more special. :D

It's hard to stop talking about it. Especially when they are so close that you can make out details like skin textures and whatnot. It's just really beautiful to be out there with them. They are gorgeous animals.

seals are the coolest... and they surf with so much style... and then kick out perfectly when they see the need to.

I swam with Boto's (Pink Amazonian River Dolphins) in Bolivia once, except that they are not sociable like bottlenose or similar species of dolphin. And they dont have dorsal fins, so its really hard to work out if they are still there or if theyve swum off. But you get in the river when they are there cos its supposed to keep the Pirahnas, Camen and Aligators away  no one got eaten so i guess its true....

Have surfed with an awful lot of seals. Only surfed with a dolphin once and it was really cool. He gave me an awful fright though -he was behind me and I just hear this burst of air and turn around and see a fin! He kept circling myself & the two other lads out, going from one person to the next. Beautiful animals.

Was out another day during the summer last year, beautiful evening, -lovely sunset and it was tiny but super clean so said I'd take the longboard for a paddle. There were alot of mackrel jumping & I caught one wave and as I was coming in, I could see about 6 mackrel dashing right from underneath the board, really cool.

Another day I was coming in on a wave, alot of mackrel out aswell and one jumped and just narrowly missed my board, if I'd turned a millimetre to the right I could of had him for dinner!

And then there was another time I was out during the summer and there was about a million sprats being chased by mackrel all over the beach, of course they directed them right towards me and there were sprats jumping all over my arms & legs, etc. Absolutely horrible, I'd to lie down the board with my feet up in the air. yuck!
Felt like a right idiot. Went in straight after it.

i nearly paddled into a big frenzy of about 8 BIG bull sharks. Ive had a few other close calls, i was sitting in the lineup and i see a big blunt nose and a fin, tiger shark. He was like 8 feet long, he just swam right through the middle of the jetty.
