Surfing Waves

hey guys whats up. im looking for a surfboard and i read a lot on which board to get which is funboard or a long board but the problem is my budget is only 80 dollars so i cant be too picky buying a used board. now some say fish boards aren't good for beginners but i have found a extremely good and cheap one. the board is MITSVEN surf board which is 6'5" x 21 and i am 5'7 and 150lbs. will this be a good board to learn on. also i dont want something too easy as well.

Wow you think surfing is going to be easy, you have a budget of $80 with a 6'5" board you are going to spend your money on something that won't be easy ( solved) it will be frustrating, will it be money well spent IMO no! Somethin of a second hand board arouns 8ft would be better. Have a read of the forum and see all the advice given it might help you clarify your thoughts about what would work for you!
There are longboards out there at reasonable prices, go look!

I agree with Jaffa (it's hard not too! ) Just keep looking for the ideal board, preferably longer than 7.6 and at least 21 - 22 wide. You don't want to be stuck with an impulsive buy that you cant manage to ride etc.

guys i found a 7' foam board which is a surface board. would this be good? also are the foam boards hard in texture or are they super soft and easily breakable

or i have found a Patagonia Surf Board 7'6" mini gun surfboard please help!

With your budget I'd be looking at a used foamie. Just because getting something decent for $80 is a tough ask, imo.

prowheelie92 neither of these board would be of any benefit to you, the particular foamie is cheap and not particular good and will be likely to break easily, the minigun is a specialist board for riding bigger waves with speed and power.

Look at a fun board or a minimal something with width, length and volume something about 8ft would be in the ideal range and it will quite some time before you grow enough in skill to move to anything else.
A point I disagree with nickyb on is;
I would not recommend a softy , they are IMO only good for a few early lessons and then you move onto a real board.
BTW have you actually tried surfing yet or only thinking about doing it and where would you go surfing that too would help us advise you
one thing I haven't asked is your age and gender, might help too! young people have easier ;earning curve!

im 20 and a male and i learn extremly quickly in previous sports such as snowboarding. like you guys said its hard to find a board for so cheapand there mostly sold they go quick. i found a 7 foot by 20 inches for 80 looks decent. im planning on going to the beach tomm and i need a board. its summer time and i dont wanna spend all day doing nothing. so even if i get a hard board to learn on its better then nothing. i also went surfing last week i have given a board around 8 feet by 20 and it was epoxy i believe kinda like the new surf speed boards. i will let you guys know how i do!!!!

the waves were easy to catch and i sort of stood up. i was always kneeling down extremely low but that also before i got youtube lessons. i knew nothing about surfing a week ago i mean nothing. i tried it and it was awesome! rental was 20 a hour =[ dont got enough money to rent a board every week for 3 hours so im just looking for a cheap one i found this one for 80 check it out

it is 7'x20" thats all i know

I would look at something with a "rounder" nose and a low entry rocker. You need to catch as many waves as possible and that will help.

well bud, how did the 7 ft. board do for you ?
