Surfing Waves

Hey I'm new to surfing, I've surfed on a soft board a few times and want to get my own surfboard.
I don't think I'm ready for a short board but don't want to buy a funboard that I will get board with it fast so I thought about the superfrog hydrofish.

Is this a good board for a beginner with a bit experience and for small waves?
I'm looking for a board that would be a bit challenging but not as a short board.

Wow, really stretching the definition of fish there.

If you've only surfed a soft board, then that board will likely be too small to learn on. What's your height and weight?

It'll take a long time to get bored on a mini-mal or funboard, but frustration on a too-short board sets in really quickly

Height around 6'2 and weight 165 pounds

At your height and weight i would go long.... 8ft plus....i am 5.10 and about 80kg (176 pounds) been at it for 6 months now so still a newbie...recently purchased a 7.6 minimal, even having some experience, it is still tough. You need a board that will be easy to paddle, catch waves and be stable. How often do you plan on hitting the water?

I have seen guys out on minimals and LBs ripping waves around the 4/5 ft range...so i doubt you will get bored for at least a year even then...it is always nice to have a LB or minimal in the quiver.

Plan to hit the water 2-3 times a week.
The thing is I'm looking to buy a second hand board and don't have too many options and I though if ill get the superfrog it will serve me longer than a 7.6 or 7.2 fun board
What do you think?

Amazingly the guys have suggested what they think You like the super frog, buy the superfrog....... the advice is clear to see and hear but in the end we make our own choice
