Hi everyone,

I just wrote a new post on which countries produce the most world tour surfers. I thought you might all like to check it out. Guess which country has the highest ration of "pro surfers per capita"?

I guess the next question is - what proportion of pros are there to the number of actual surfers. I imagine that Brazil has a much lower surfing population than other countries given the cost of surfing and the poverty of many; whereas in Australia (for example), almost everyone can afford to surf if they wanted to.

Yes that was the tough part. That's why I calculated the population of "people living near the coast" rather than "total population of a region."

If anyone knows the population of surfers per region, please let me know and I'll update the article. Thanks
