Does anyone know this board?

Hi, I'm Gonz and I'm a newb. Beginner surfer who's looking to upgrade from a foam board and I found this on CL. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if this is a good buy for me. I'm about 6' tall and 200lbs. I'm getting pretty good at popping up and working on turning. I really like the looks of this board and it's about the size I think I should have, but I'm not sure about the exposed agave stringer. It looks like it's just unfinished wood and I don't know how that's going to hold up. pros: looks, size cons: I don't know if the shape is good for a beginner, I don't want something that's going to split down the middle (agave stringer) in the first season.
gracias for any help in advance

What are the board's dimensions? It looks like a longboard which is fine for a beginner.

Most boards have a stringer down the middle like that. It's covered with a layer of fibreglass, not exposed. It will be fine.

Hello Gonz,
Yeah...if you can get the width and thickness on the board that would be a great help. It looks a little narrow, but I know it can be hard to tell from photos. As a beginner at 200lbs it would be good to get something that will float you good and make the learning curve work in your favor. Let us know if you can find out the width and thickness. I would suggest a board at least 23 inches wide and at least 2 3/4" thick. If this board is narrower and thinner that does not mean it won't work. It's just that another board may work much better and help you to learn more quickly!

Thanks for the replies! The only dimension I know is the length is 9'. Whoever is selling this board doesn't return emails about it so I guess I'm moving on. I rented a 8' x 22" x 3.25" epoxy pop out fun shape this week just to see what it felt like and it was still shaky compared to the bigger foamie I used in surf class. So I'm hoping to find a used 9' x 23" x 3" or something very close to that size. Do you guys know if there is a big difference between the buoyancy of epoxy and fiberglass boards?

Not really. There is a popular misconception that epoxy boards are more buoyant, but that is mostly because they are built with more foam.

P.s. epoxy boards use fibreglass too

The 8' 22" board should be fine to learn on. The shakyness of it should go away after a few sessions.
