Hey all,

What's the fartherst you guys have moved for better waves!?

I started surfing I couple of years ago on a total whim. I'd never been out before and had hollidays to use up so got in my car and drove 9 hours down to Newquay for a week. Wen't out ever day, got pounded and was totally hooked!

I live in Edinburgh and the waves here are inconsitstent as hell so as soon as i'm done with uni i'm outahere!

So. . . How far have you folks moved in search if better waves!?

Last year I tried to move to Coolangatta. I found a share house where I could walk to Snapper Rocks in 10 minutes and to Duranbah in about 15 minutes . Sounds awesome eh? :D The move never happened because I couldn't find any job there. There are not many jobs you can do in Australia on a student visa.

So instead I moved to where I'm living now, still in the same suburb but closer to the waves which is about 20 metres away. :D Before that I would have to walk 1.4 km to the beach every time.

Awesome! Dbb that's Amazing!

Jaktequila - I know what you mean about gettin jobs on a temp visa!

I spent the best part of two year in Auz on a working holliday visa. Most depressing thing is that surfing didn't even enter my mind when I was out there! :spew:

It wasn't until I was back in Scotland after a few months I got the urge! Kicking myself now!!

I really want to move again to get more consistent swell (and generally better weather) but would be leaving alot behind!

Win some you loose some?

Thanks for the replys!

Sandy

I am in the same situation. I will be looking for phd's for next year hopefully either in Bordeaux or San Diego, but for the longterm who knows...

The sad thing about the UK is that jobs and surf do not coincide.
