I'm 15 and I started surfing about month ago. I live in Sydney and surf around Bondi beach and Bronte. My first board is 5'11 shortboard. I was sponsored in skateboarding and snowboarding in my country, before I moved here. So it was very very easy to start. I surf 3-5 ft waves and feel pretty confident on waves and a week ago did my first scetchy cutback. I guess it is pretty good already, but I really want to ride wave with more speed and use the whole wave, how to I achieve it?

Hi nezinamais1, welcome to Surfing Waves!

There are a few things you need to do to keep your speed up. Here's a generating speed article that has been put together from the best speed topics on the forum. Basically it's keep to where the power in the wave is (top 1/3rd, close to pocket)

Sounds like you're coming along quickly if you only started a month ago.

There really is not a magic formula. Staying high on the wave and learning to pump your board will help you to generate speed, but It is still going to take time and practice to lay down big turns and generate speed quickly. To be completely honest, it really takes years to get any good at surfing. The good news is that surfing is a blast whether your an experienced surfer or just a beginner. My advice would be to surf more and you will get better, but don't forget to enjoy the ride.
