surf patrol, thanks for the reminder and the handy link. Steamers is a great break and the little surfing museum in the lighthouse there is pretty cool, too. Have been to watch surfers and go through museum at Steamers many times. Even spent a wedding anniversary there during one surfing safari.

It looks like a great spot to surf, but also to watch from the cliff. I've never been and did not know about the surfing museum there. I've added the info to the surf spot map.

Wedding anniversary on surfing safari, you've found yourself a good one there :-D

2nd attempt at photo posting: If this works, then you'll see the sea arch about 0.1 mile north of Steamers. You'll also see my beloved deceased big black lab. She was always ready for a surfing trip -- long or short. She'd even sleep in the truck the night before departure so as to not miss the trip.

Many thanks, Gabe, for providing photo posting assistance.

Weather has been good, but waves haven't been so big consistently. I'm accustomed to seeing this place rip(!). The commentators mention the kelp and some of the surfers have been messed up by it. There are extensive kelp beds beyond the breakers at most beaches in Santa Cruz. They are a positive thing because they: 1) filter the waves coming in from the sea which makes the surfing waves cleaner, and 2) it keeps the sharks out (we like to think).
