Well the forecast for my local on Tue is 1ft at 28 seconds!?

I'd put money on that falling through but what would that even break at?! What would a 1ft @ 28 second wave even look like!? MSW reckons chest high..

Surprised and confused!

Not much to be confused about, you must live in San Diego, or at least, that is what the report has read for the past 2 days.

So, waht do you do? Find a report that tells you the direction and try to guess where best to go. Yesterday the report said mixed with 190 and 280 combo, so I went to OB and scored endless waist high fun surf.

You get better at guessing as you surf your local spots more, so you can maximize your wave count

Unlikely for the most part

Interesting question though... as the period is determined by how far the wave has travelled, what is the theoretically highest period a wave can have? I guess it's determined by the two furthest points that a wave can be generated/received.... Get me an oceanographist now!

Anyway, 28s would seem unlikely. Interpreting MSW's little quirks, it would usually mean (if it says it consistently, rather than as a blip - and obviously depending on direction etc) something like basically flat but with very inconsistent sets, some of which might end up having some surprising size and power. So not necessarily a bad day to be on the water, but you might need some patience 8)
