Too late to start?

I'm 15 and I want to try shortboarding but I want to try competitions later when I get better. I've already bodyboarded for 2 years so I know how the waves work. Do you guys think I'm too old to try?

If it was me I would just get a board and enjoy to see how good you are anyway ;)

I've only had a go on a short board in crap waves but have a longboard and a 7'3" mini mal to try this weekend ;)

Hi TimLee, welcome to Surfing Waves!

No such thing as too old, and even if there was, it would not be 15. Get out there young man!

15 too late? No way, I wish I'd started at 15, rather than at 20 and then starting again at 42!

Good luck!

I started when I was 24! Now I'm 25 and have already caught up with some local guys because I just get out everyday unless it's flat or stormy. You're only 15 and can bodyboard, this is already an advantage. I suggest you find a good coach too becuase competitive surfing is different.
