Best Fin System?? (another fin topic!!)

Well - having surfed for many years, I must have used pretty much every fin system going. Over here in the UK FCS have marketed their product well and have the market sewn up.

It's a bit self-fulfilling - the more popular they are, the more shops stock them, so the more readily available they are so more people choose to use them as they are easier to get hold of, so the market grows, so more shop sell them etc etc etc.

HOWEVER - I don't personally think they produce the best system though. My favourite is Red-X to be honest.

Thoughts anyone???

Hi,
Reading what some write there is a huge brand loyality (or dissing going on) with almost every brand of fin, weirdly, apart from the basic hydrodynamic stuff & sizes they are, essentially, almost identical. The only difference being attachment methods.
I've always used FCS because my shaper uses them. No other reason.
They now offer an interesting option in the FG series (internal convex shape on the inside of the fin) and brighter colour options. I see Slater is currently playing with a new model to be released called the H-2.

Actually I really like their legropes, especially the lightweight "comp" series. They're light, simple & work well, designed by surfers rather than marketing people. The ability to replace the legrope cord with a simple 2mm allen key (that also fits their fin plugs) is a feature nobody else offers....um, why not? it's common sense to me. I've had to do this several times in the last couple of months...saved me alot of money.

Same here Brent, ive never actually used any others because ive just gone with the shaper on the FCS's. No problems so far...
A bit of competition is always good, at least it'l probally bring down fin prices.
