Have you ever bruised your thenar's?

This is the first time I noticed this but both my "thenar's" (palm area under thumb, had to look that one up, see image below) feel bruised when I touch them.

The only thing I can think of is from popping up a lot, otherwise I have no clue what happened to them. Has anyone ever experienced this? :bang:

Thanks!

Hi SoCal, you've given yourself a rarity there, the only other time I've seen similar soft tissue injuries there has one of my patients who was a new surf and he was slapping his hands down hard to get speed for the pop up.

If you have shooting with a bolt action rifle and you palm the bolt, you can get a similar injury with some nerve issues, if your thenar injury worsens or continues longer than you think it should, have it checked, there are possible relationships to the neck and surfers do disturb their neck alignment with their heads up paddling.

A worse injury in the same area is a fractured scaphoid from a hands plant type fall, (common in skateboarding) .

Without an examination I'd hazard a guess that you self diagnosis could be on the money, get someone to watch and advise you on you pop ups

thanks, it is very likely I was slapping my hands down. However, I went out yesterday and I think that they are a little sore but don't hurt like last time.
