Surf buddy required South East UK!

Postby saltygeckos » Thu Jan 05, 2012 10:00 pm

Hey,
I started surfing a few years ago and now try and get out whenever I can. Only problem is I live in a pretty average area to surf and have no one to accompany me except some friends that are only in it for the glory...
After a surf holiday in Lanzarote in October I have returned eager to get out in the water again, and actually progress with my surfing.
At the moment I've got a 6ft Softboard which I intend to sell on and possibly get a second hand long board for some practice?

Anyone in the Portsmouth/B'Mouth/Brighton/Isle of Wight area fancy coming out and catching some waves, give me a shout.
I'm not going to lie, not quite pro status but I'm so keen to improve and just get out there and have some fun.

Would be great if you preferably weren't a paedophile...

Hi Katy,
I live in Salisbury and try to get as much as possible too. I tend to surf Bournemouth as its fairly close and its an ok area to surf. not great, but better than not surfing at all. If you fancy meeting up when its a good day to surf give me shout. its always nice to have someone to surf with. depending on you size and weight you might be better off going for a minimal rather than a longboard. it depends what your after obviously. There is a good shop in Boscombe. But either way let me know. :)

Regards,

Tj

I saw a thread from a girl living in the UK looking for surf buddies about 1-2 months ago. Can't seem to find that post. Not sure if she lives close to you.

I've surfed Boscombe before, it wasn't bad. I'd definitely be up for heading over there again.
My boyfriend actually lives in Salisbury (SMALL WORLD) so i'm up there a fair bit.
I've decided against buying a new board as i'm going off to Uni in september most probably in London and simply won't have the time or money to spend on it. I don't drive either which is another downfall... but i'm so keen to get in as much as possible before sept!! I'll hire a board down at boscombe. My local spot is the Witterings, been there a few times and its pretty average but surfable none the less!

haha, what a small world. well im away in Germany now for the next week, but depending on the forecast im looking at going to Boscombe or Bournemouth depending on the forecast on the 29th of this month, so i will give you a shout if you like. yeah the hiring of equipment there is rather expensive, and let me know if you need a hand getting your stuff there and i will have a look and see what i can do.

may i ask what the surf is like in general in the uk?
my gf is form there and we have plans to settle there in the next few years.
we'd probably be moving to london as that's where the jobs are, but i would like to try and go surf once a month if that's at all possible.

i'm visiting over Christmas and would like to try surfing at b'mouth(that's where a lot of her friends stay). what should i expect?

Thanks!
Anton
