HOW BAD ARE THE LOCALS?

Postby _MACE_ » Mon Dec 05, 2011 3:01 pm

How bad are the locals in your area? Are you a "local" and proud of it? Some of the most protected breaks ive ever heard of are in southern cali.
Please share your stories of locals "defending" their territory....I just watched a few vids on you tube as well.
So where are the "worst" locals?

Give respect, get respect... simples. Not true at every break but there's always a reason for it. Usually a history of blow-ins turning up and taking the mickey.

Well I have surfed So cal when I was younger (Santa Cruz), I never had any problems....of course I was with the locals, so there wouldnt be a problem. Then I moved to Myrtle beach,SC. There is absolutely no problem there, as there is NO SURF to defend.
now, I am at Juno beach, Fl. I hear horror stories but, all i got was some "dirty" looks when I go here, Of course I respect the "break" and surf down the beach a little and let them have the "pier". hopefully Ill make some friends and stuff........Usually most people dont mess with me. I be
lookin like I just got out of
prison

Whos next?

When I was at Kill Devil Hills, most of the surfers and boogeyboarders were fairly cool. I'm not local to NC though but I find the south to be accepting of others

Ive never really had any experience with this although heard about problems from friends kids, so guess its more of a teen issue.
