My Gf and I are off to Devon in two weeks time and wondered what is the best beach for surf at this time of year????

I looked at Saunton/Croyde, just wondered if there was anything else I had over looked?

Cheers

Andy.

Croyde or Saunton will do you nicely, although obviously conditions dependent. As a general rule if you are beginners then Saunton is a bit more beginner friendly and you can walk down the beach and get away from all your fellow learners!

There should be plenty of swell hitting the beaches this time of the year, so you should be able to find a wave.

Hi,
i live in Salisbury which is obviously closer to Bournemouth and Boscombe than Saunton, but Saunton is a cracking place to surf. nice long slow walls and in the right conditions its very nice and clean. Im off there for new year for three days and i cant wait. A lot of people rave about croyde, and it does produce a cracker of a wave, but its always packed on good days and it saps the fun out of it when you have people cuting you up left right and centre. Don't take my advice as gold as i have only been surfing since May/June, but i learnt at Saunton and i love it. :)

As you're a newbie, hit saunton.
Croyde can be a heavy wave, particularly in winter, and not suitable for beginners.

BUT... its all conditions dependent. If its 1ft at Croyde and 0ft at saunton, surf at Croyde ;)
