Surfing Waves

So i'm looking at purchasing myself a fish, over the last 2 months i have been borrowing a buddies 6'' twin mounted fin retro board.

Got on really really well with it, however he is not looking to sell it!

Been hunting high & low for a fish in my budget & a 6.2" quad fin has popped up ...

Will i notice a huge difference in switching to a quad?

I should state i'm still a beginner & in the transition of switching from my 7.2'' mal, so 'critical turns in the pocket' aren't things i'm looking to attempt (just yet). Just general good rides with some nice turns thrown in on my good days

Any advice is most welcome as i'm pretty naive on this subject!

i was told that the difference is not much, the quad fin is just a looser ride and a bit faster and only limits you when you go for a cut back. what is your budget? i found a site which sells quad fins for under 500

I couldn't disagree more. A retro twin fin set-up is fast and loose. The keel fins generate very little lift and allow the board to glide through fat sections without being bogged down by the extra drag and lift that would be produced by a quad. The twin set-up is looser to as there is only one set of fins for the board to pivot around. A quad will be better in more powerful surf where the fin set-up will make better use of the power offered up by the wave.

Yeah i heard the quad set up is the more steady outta the two which i feel will benefit me more, coming down from a bigger board, even tho i did bode pretty well on the twin.

The reason i ask is me to me almost committing to buying a 6.2'' Bunty board which is only 190 quid ...

Anyone have any feedback on these Bunty boards?

I'd say get these quads...its what I have
