i have a couple of questions about
surfboards. i'm about 5'9 160 pounds and have been surfing for around two years (only during summer). i have a
7'2 funboard that i'm selling and have decided to
buy a fish. Ive been looking at ron jons rocket fish and was wondering if theyre good boards, and also if i should get a 6'6" or a 6'4", i want something i can progress on and hopefully have for a long time. ive also thought about the
6'4" fish from seven http://bravesurf.com/acatalog/SEVEN__Fish_Surfboard_Models___.htm and was wondering if anyone knew anything about these boards. If you can give me any information on other fishes around $300 it would be much appreciated.
Thank you and rock on!

Strong paddler?
If so you may want to try a 6'.
I am the same weight & height as you, I ride a 5'10" & 6' fish, the 6' is perfect for me volume wise. The smaller fish is over 21" wide so it's abit weird.
If you're going to really get into surfing I think a 6'4" or bigger will defeat the whole point of buying a fish i.e. a small loose fun board for crap waves.
Personally, I'd buy a 6'2" fish at the biggest.
Just my 5cents worth....

I'm 5'6, 150 pounds, and i ride a 6'6 as my primary board... It has alooot of float, i ride it in waist high mushy waves. I almost regret buying it, it has soo much float. Its a sharp eye, a pretty good comp. Sevens a good and ive only heard of ron jon, know nothing about them.
I would go with a 6'4. tops.

thanks a lot for all the replies! Since this is gonna be my only board (until i get more money) i was wandering how fish perform in most conditions. Would a 6'4 do well in head high surf? and if so, would a 6'2 do worse?

The MTF is a freak of nature. It's not a fish, or a hybrid. It's an MTF. I got one 2 and a half months ago and have ridden it in 1 foot slop to Overhead barrels and point breaks and it works unreal. I usually ride a 6'2" MX that is 2 1/4" thick. Now I am riding a 6'0" that is 2 1/2" thick and 19 5/8" wide. Up until 2 1/2 months ago, if anyone told me I'd be riding these dimensions, I'd tell them to shut up. You'll never see these boards in a shop as they are custom order only. I've been talking to a few guys that are hooked on them and we all agree that the MTF is the xxxxx.

www.cisurfboards.com click on boards
I think it's under the special applications boards. Sorry I couldn't get the link, my computer isn't letting me do that today.
