Snapped fin? FCS G-AM?

Postby jwardmagic » Tue Aug 23, 2011 3:46 pm

I recently snapped the right hand fin on my surfboard. It is the FCS variety and it snapped clean off from the circular base that is bolted into the board leaving a flat edge at the base of the fin. The fin says 'FCS G-AM' on it. Underneath this it says in smaller writing 'GAM-R'. I have been looking for FCS GAM fins and have found many different varieties and I'm not sure what kind this is or what kind to buy. I only really need one fin but they all seem to come in sets of three. Any help?

You need the FCS GAM (Al Merrick) Fin template. FCS Uses different materials to make the same fins, such as fiberglass, carbon Fiber, reg glass flex etc. If you have the plastic type fins in your board now, just get the inexpensive set GAM Glass Flex Fins and you will be fine. The higher end FCS fins are really nice if you decide to try a set of those. Just make sure you get the AM template. They also have an AM2 Fin template, so if you have the AM's be careful not to get the AM2's.
