3-4ft clean good surf. They call a lay day because the incoming swell is going to be huge.

Me too - I'd be taking the lay day on the 12-15ft day at Teahupo'o, not the 3 ft day :-D

Saturday morning on live streaming, Kelly Slater said Maya Gabeira nearly drowned after wiping out in the tow-in competition. Can't find any info about that. Can anyone direct me to some news or a description?

I can't seem to find a report of that, but this was posted on Maya's facebook page.

Plenty of heroic waves and carnage from yesterday's historic tow session at Teahupo'o, including EZIA-trained athlete Maya Gabeira take 6 set waves on the head on dry reef. Thankfully just received texts from Maya saying she's okay and already amping for the next huge swell!!!!

Surfline have a great feature on the tow in day, stills and video.
