Good Los Angeles/Malibu longboarding spots?

I live in San Diego and have surfed spots from the international border on up to San Onofre/San Clemente.

I'm heading to Los Angeles (Marina Del Ray, specifically) next weekend and bringing my longboard, and would like to try a nice local break on Saturday. On previous visits (sans board), the breaks along the Marina Del Rey/Santa Monica/Venice beaches were closed out and mushy, or not great for longboarding, so I'm thinking about trying malibu or somewhere in between

Can any local surfers give me some pointers on where to go, where to park, and anything else useful? I don't really care about crowds, I fight them in San Diego, and localism isn't much of an issue (though I've never experienced it) as I know what I'm doing out there (surfwise, not fisticuffs-wise).

So, basically, where should I go between Santa Monica and Malibu? Alternatively, I don't mind trying out a beach slightly south of LA but north of Long Beach, where would i go? Redondo? Hermosa? Rancho Palos Verdes?

And of course, if anyone wants to be my guide i'll hook you up with lunch afterwards, my treat.

There's a nice point break at sunset and PCH that's frequented by many longboarders. If you are willing to travel to OC, bolsa chica is a good beach break for longboarders, note you have to pay a fee to park there I think a day pass is 15$ or so this keeps the crowds away.

That's perfect, thanks. I checked out the info on www.sunsetsurf.com and it looks like a spot I will most definitely check out. Hopefully parking won't be too much of an issue, and it looks like even with crowds there are waves for everyone.
