Puppy Modz, short answer Yes,
the usage of either depends on what you want to do.

Round nose adds volume to board, better flotation and gives something to stand on for nose riding, gives a longer surface for generating speed through trim
Only cause blunt trauma if it smacks you in the head
Minuses if you pearl then a lot more volume to get out of the water as a correction, more prone to getting air and wind under the nose as you take on steeper drops. A lot more volume to bring around in a turn.
Pointy nose, major decrease in frontal volume of board, more able to match face shape of steeper waves less volume to turn sharply. less likely to have wind resistance when dropping down a steep wave, usually has a more pronounced nose rocker as part of this. Able to penetrate deeper in duck diving due to lower volume.
The difference create a different plan shape, moves differently through turns and trim

Minuses, doesn't noseride, smacks in the head create holes and penetration injuries. More easily snapped and broken off in wipeouts.

That's a terrible image. I'd hope that the board would crack before a skull but probably depends on which part of the head gets smacked. Please don't post any stories, it's like sharks I'd rather not even think about it.
