Just curious, but what does everyone do when there are no waves, be it training on land, watching surf films, etc.

Its been flat here on the east coast for about a month and I'm beginning to lose it.

What do you do?!?!?!

Texas this last month has been GREAT (except this week)! Sorry to rub it in but ya we plan trips to more remote parts of the beach using our 4x4's and go camping and surf/shark fishing. You love the beach, so make the most of the one part that is better without the surf. Fishing!

I still try to enjoy the water, and the beach. Or I go into the town of Nags Head to enjoy that or Manteo.

i never understood that logic. don't sharks spend all day eating fish and seals that probably have never eaten a shark themselves?

unless your a vegan, your're fair game in the food chain; so you may as well enjoy as many sharks as you can while you can. every one you eat is one less that can eat you...

To josh aggars Surf writer for Flip Flops City Surf Blog and owner of the largest collection of flip flops in the western hemisphere.
Sorry Josh that title has been lost in the manner of the famous Moby Duck ( there's a book about that). google Moby Duck .
A raft of tens of thousands of flip flops = thongs (Aussie speak) jandals ( blending of Japanese sandals by Kiwis) was found floating off the Western Australian coast some time ago.
It is believed they were discarded into the sea by an Indonesian flip flop factory, the peculiar thing that although they came in various colours and sizes there was not one matching pair
Oh what do I do, when there are no waves? I collect strange and wonderous trivia

There is most always waves where I live so I don't really have that problem. But I do other things beside surfing. I enjoy hiking, judo, running, weigh lifting, tennis, traveling. I also like visiting surf shops I haven't been too checking out their boards and shirts, etc..

It was actually visiting a surf store in Monterey that I found my Thrive mini 8'8 board. So I am always perusing new places.

SUP! For the record, I hate it when a SUP'er snakes my wave from way the heck out there! I've actually never taken my SUP out into waves. I'll stick to my longboard for that. But, I love taking out my SUP on flatwater... marshes, lakes, ponds, and ocean when it's flat. It's a great core workout and a great way to enjoy the water when you can't surf.

Other than that, kayaking and motorcylces are the next on the list for non-surfing outdoor fun.
