Stiff fin box

Hi all

I'm pretty new to owning a board + am having trouble getting my fin in + out of the (standard, I think) fin box on my Bic E-Comp. It's really stiff to move back and forth.

What should I do?

Try to grind the box down? Lubricate? In which case, what should I use?

WARNING WARNING WARNING Do not attempt to grind out the fin box especially on an epoxy Bic ink could go everywhere. Seriously you have a high risk of breaking the outer shell of the Bic and letting water in.
look at your fin base where it inserts in the box, that is where you do your work.
If it is stiff and but still can be put in and out the only the lightest of sanding will be necessary.
If it's stiffer than that do the fit and sand fit and sand method or hit with an angle grinder carefully until the fin fits.
BTW snug and smooth fit is the best go too far and you'll then have a wobble fin

It is likely that in production of your Bic the box got a little warped so I repeat.
WARNING WARNING WARNING Do not attempt to grind out the fin box

I usually use a little dish washing soap to help lubricate a stiff fin, so I can move it in the fin box. If that does not work you can slowly sand the base of the fin. Do not take to much off or it may become to loose in the fin box! Good Luck!
